We are fascinated by the ongoing rise of Fibromyalgia as the latest "must have" designer disease diagnosis so all those ghostly aches and pains and emotional ills and valleys can finally be validated by the medical community by writing a prescription; but the most disturbing trend is in the purposeful use of ADHD as a valid excuse for unrestricted bad behavior.

Tax Break for Pet Owners

If you've ever struggled to medically save the life of a dying pet, you know the end-of-life costs can be extravagant if you choose to try prolong life instead of just ending it. A year ago, I wondered in an article -- Deducting the Cat -- why pets weren't considered part of the family and eligible as tax deductions for their veterinary care. I was delighted to learn this week there is now a move afoot to allow a $3,500.00USD "pet deduction" on your income tax.

Heart disease and strokes have been rare throughout human history.  Why, then, do so many of us today die from heart-related illnesses?  The University of Southern California set out to answer that question and they found an answer in the Tsimane tribe of the Amazon.

Bankrupting Healthcare

We need a fair and sustainable national healthcare system in the United States.  People are suffering while insurance companies, hospitals, and other animated fat cats reap the benefits from the weak and infirm while the families of the sick line up for bankruptcy court.

Racing from torture and death, the United States has served as an international safe haven for immigrants the world over.

Last week on the Dr. Phil show -- something so sad and utterly amazing happened -- and Dr. Phil and his parental guests and an "expert" in the audience failed to see, and then act upon, the alarming breakthrough a young woman expressed right under their television noses.
